520 _aThe Commonhold and Leasehold Reform Bill passed its Second Reading in the House of Commons on 8 January 2002. The Bill introduces a new form of tenure called commonhold that could become a popular alternative to the leasehold system for blocks of flats. It also simplifies the process of leasehold enfranchisement. If any member wishes to comment on the progress of the Bill please contact Stuart Poore in the RICS policy unit on +44 (0)20 7334 3838 or e [email protected] http://www.rics.org/ricscms/bin/show?class=Feature&template=/includes/showfeature.html&id=130
