||
| 520 | _aSummarises the findings of the Business in the Environment's (BiE's) sixth Index of Corporate Environmental Engagement. The BiE index uses benchmarking to push forward continuous improvement in environmental management and performance in participating companies (FTSE 100, FTSE 250, non-FTSE listed Business in the Community members and sector leaders from the Dow Jones Sustainability Index). Over 200 companies participated, an increase of 12% on the previous year, and for the first time companies had to evaluate their performance in two core impact areas; climate change and solid waste management. The next step in driving environmental management will be the launch of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) index in September 2002. | ||
