520 _aDiscusses the advantages of Getmapping's Millennium Map to local authorities. The Millennium Map currently consists of 160 000sq km of high resolution aerial photography covering England and Wales (Scotland and Northern Ireland are due to be mapped this year). An initiative called Digital National Imagery (DNI) has been set up to provide access to the Millennium Map data to public sector organisations. Illustrates how a number of local authorities are already using aerial photography for a range of purposes including car parking surveys, parking enforcement, border disputes, street inventories, local transport planning, monitoring the land, and coastline and ancient site surveying. Further information available from http://www.getmapping.com. Local authority case studies. Appendices.
