520 _aThe Government and Local Government Association (LGA) has published a joint report endorsing a series of recommendations to help ensure that councils are equipped to negotiate the best deals with contractors for the delivery of public services. Initial issues to be considered will include capacity issues faced by small councils, proposals to create regional centres of excellence in procurement, developing sources of market intelligence, development of standard contract documentation and development of appropriate training programmes.
