| 520 | _aThe European Commission has approved criteria on how waste should be dumped in different types of landfill. The rules follow the 1999 EU landfill Directive. If ministers cannot agree within three months on the inclusion of a contentious derogation allowing more lax limits on pollutants in waste (if an assessment shows the landfill can absorb them safely) the proposed measures wil be adopted by the EC.
