520 _aExamines how the Enterprise Act 2002 will affect insolvency law. Explains how the Insolvency Act 1986 had some serious gaps with its inability to obtain an interim order in company voluntary arrangements. The changes introduced in the Act include the abolition of administrative receivership and personal bankruptcy to be limited to 12 months. Also details the changes to receivership which will bring in a much more effective administrative machine. The existing four statutory purposes will be replaced with a single initial objective of rescuing the company as a going concern. The changes to corporate insolvency law will be brought into force by secondary legislation from about July 2003.
