520 _aFollowing changes to the asbestos law, highlights the need for farmers and farm workers to consider the threat posed to their health by asbestos in farm buildings. HSE research shows that repeated exposure to low doses is a factor in cases of cancer caused by asbestos and farm workers are at such a risk where they often carry out repair and maintenance work on asbestos products in farm buildings. Advises farmers to have their farms inspected in order to ensure that all sources of asbestos are made safe or removed by creating a management plan.
