520 _aLooks at the problem of the increasing number of law suits in the US concerning "Stachybotrys" mould. Examines "Ballard v Fire Insurance Exchange" (345th District Court Travis County, Texas June 2001) where a water leak in a house left untreated led to a mould infestation, leaving the house uninhabitable. Ballard was awarded several million dollars, which highlighted the upcoming issues for insurers. Recommends contractors keep better documentation and management to forestall future legislative problems. The Texas Third District (Austin) Court of Appeals 19 December 2002 reduced the level of damages awarded. For further information see www.courts.net/tx/index.html.
