520 _aReport by Robert Huggins Associates shows that the economic gap between the UK regions has increased over the last decade. Illustrates that the areas with the best prospects are London and the southeast of England which are ahead with increases of between seven and 18% GDP per capia between 1990 and 2000. Other regions of the UK have fared less well especially in the northeast which has experienced a fall of 5% GDP followed by Yorkshire and Humberside, the east Midlands, the southwest of England and Northern Ireland.
