520 _aThe latest "RICS rural land market survey" for the second quarter 2003 reveals that 44% of buyers of rural property between April and June 2003 were 'non-farmers'. This reflects a growing trend of people buying farms to live in the house and offering the farmland to neighbouring farmers to manage. The survey also shows that the price of farmland over the 12 months to June averaged £7 484 per hectare, little change from the previous year.
