520 _aDiscusses Geomatics.org.uk a web-based industry wide initiative to promote geomatics to 14-18 year olds in the UK. Conceived by the then RICS Geomatics Division, with the support of the RICS Education Trust, the website is maintained by the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. The project is focused into three separate areas: general information about geomatics for students and the general public; ideas and support for teachers using geomatics in the classroom; and an area for the industry where supporters are kept informed and future plans for the project are revealed. The project has been a success with 350 teachers registering, along with 100 members of the surveying community, in its first two years.
