520 _aA report commissioned by the ODPM has highlighted the unfeasibility of the government's target of delivering 158 500 homes in the Thames Gateway by 2016. The report by consultants Roger Tym and Partners and Llewelyn Davies studies the relationship between transport and development and claims that government needs to revise its targets to 120 000 homes and 150 000 new jobs. The report questions the role of transport in the development and advocates that government invests more into the public transport system particularly a rail based system rather than rely on buses to maximise development opportunities. "The relationship between transport and development in the Thames Gateway" is available on the ODPM website at http: www.odpm.gov.uk/stellent/groups/odpm_communities/documents/page/odpm_comm_023468-04.hcsp.
