This index covers mortgage transactions at the completion stage from more than fifty lenders, and will be the most comprehensive index available, at both a national and local level. It should also provide an accurate historical guide to trends across the country but it's main weaknesses are that it will be a month behind other house price information, being based upon completions, and it does not include cash transactions.
