520 _aFPD Savills' "Rural estate benchmarking survey" for 2003 has found that the diverse nature of rural estates has contributed to a steady rise in total gross income since 1998 with 2003 gross income up by 5.2% to £118.25 per acre. Average net income is being squeezed by rising costs, which increased by 5.6% in 2003 to 51.70 per acre. In 2003 income from all agricultural sources fell by 1.1%, gross residential income softened to 5.9% and gross commercial and leisure income increased by 27.4%.
