520 _aAccording to the new Carbon Trust study "Building options for UK renewable energy", the UK is ideally placed to become a world leader in the installation and maintenance of offshore wind energy plants. Offshore wind power is expected to become increasingly cost-competitive and could offer the greatest opportunities in the renewable energy field in the short to medium term. The study encourages government to invest more in UK-based renewable technologies.
