520 _aComments on the new Housing Bill which was contained in the Queen's speech. Welcomes many of the proposals and argues that the Bill is a genuinely radical piece of policy. The proposals include one to tackle anti social behaviour where a mandatory national licensing scheme for houses in multiple occupation should clampdown on the use of such houses for criminal purposes. Also welcomed is the planned licensing scheme for private rented accommodation which could deal with the problems of excesses committed by private landlords and tenants. Further notes that the new Bill will provide powers for the Housing Corporation (and the Welsh Assembly) to give funding to private developers who provide affordable housing in addition to funds for social housing.
