520 _aContends that the vital role of landowners in providing affordable housing in rural Scotland has not been recognised or publicly supported. The private sector accounts for 56% of rented stock in communities of 1 000 people or less compared with 12% of all rented housing. Most public housing funding is channelled through Communities Scotland, the government agency, who has directed almost all of the funding to housing associations that only provide 2% of rented rural property. This is at a time when the demand for affordable rural homes is increasing. Proposes that landowners are in the best position to deliver these rented homes
