520 _aWith reference to several recent reports on energy efficiency and tall buildings including one by the Corporation of London entitled "Tall building and sustainability", this article examines several ways in which advanced technologies and more sensitive designs could make today's tall buildings more energy efficient than smaller buildings. The author briefly looks at the following areas: energy-saving designs; facades that utilise natural ventilation; building management systems and the benefits of remote access.
