Notes that those involved in urban and rural planning must take flood risks into consideration and make individuals more aware of flood plain locations. The Environment Agency has prepared a series of colour coded maps which show areas of potential marine and river flooding. Norwich Union has produced its own digital elevation model for England, Wales and southern Scotland based on airborne radar mapping, which together with a software model can produce information on where floods will occur and their extent.
