520 _aReports on the ambitious objective set by France's national surveying body, Ordre des Géomètres Experts (OGE) of creating a national real-time GNSS position-fixing system, TERIA, in place and up-and-running by the end of 2005. TERIA is a collective initiative conceived voluntary and financially supported by the French surveying profession. OGE has implemented a business plan under which the first phase of the network will be financed by the surveying profession and has selected Thales Navigation and Martec-Tekelec Services as technical industry partners. TERIA will primarily function for surveyors as a tool for XYZ positioning to measure boundaries marks, establish topographic plans and engineer structures. Concludes that TERIA will have ramifications for all key producers and users of geographic information in France. Weblinks.
