520 _aConsiders how developers have reacted to the arrival of commonhold. A recent survey conducted by Fennemores that collected responses from almost 80 commercial and residential developers, revealed that developers are cautious about promoting commonhold schemes, that very little activity has taken place yet, and little is known about commonhold particularly among the smaller players. Examines in detail the survey responses relating to the respondents' awareness of commonhold, current commonhold activity, the perceived drawbacks of this type of tenure and the future of commonhold. Concludes that many developers are ignorant of the commonhold regime and that it will require a number of entrepreneurial companies to sell freehold flats as an attractive proposition to get the market going. Table covers the survey statistics. Summarises residential lenders' attitudes to commonhold and a case study by Sarah Jackman of the Australian strata title experience is appended.
