One possible change due to the events of 9/11 is the widening of staircases to allow staff to be evacuated down and firefighters to make their way to where they are required. Includes details of additions costs incurred and losses in rental revenue due to these changes. This consultation on Part B of the Building Regulations runs until 18 November 2005. However it is voiced that in the UK tall buildings have special lifts built exclusively for firefighters. Also discusses changes in fire testing of materials, different methods that could be employed to strengthen a building should it be attacked and entry-control systems.
