| 520 | _aRICS has made its submission to government in respect of the ODPM consultation "Planning for housing provision" (see L130383). RICS sees the proposals to reform the system of planning for housing provision as meaning the abolition of the 'plan, monitor, manage' approach to housing numbers which government has admitted has failed. Ministers are seeking now to allow the planning system to respond more quickly to the housing market so that more homes can be built where they are needed through a rolling 15 year pool of land supply. A key concern is that despite government assurances that more emphasis will be placed on the development of brownfield sites there is in fact an implication that the trigger to release more land may actually result in development being targeted at already over-priced areas, leading to a cycle that could be difficult to stop. | ||
