The proposals include a requirement for building developers to pass on relevant fire-safety information to the owners of non-domestic premises before a completion certificate can be issued, the provision of sprinkler systems in high-rise apartments and residential care homes, and the fitting of additional smoke alarms in the bedrooms of apartment buildings and dwelling houses. Changes relating to firefighting facilities and access are also outlined.
