520 _aReports on the new 200m long steel roof canopy in the course of construction at St Pancras station. The work forms part of Section 2 of the Channel Tunnel Rail Link, by which St Pancras will become a major transport hub. The new roof is designed to harmonise with the original wrought-iron arched roof which dates from 1865. The main section of new roof has three spans across the tracks in the station and seven longitudinal bays. A transition roof will cover a 22m gap between the new roof and the gable end of the original.
