Researchers in this field all feel that the transparency of performance information will increase with the shift from segregated funds to pooled vehicles. and the desire of many funds to be listed in the HSBC/APUT indices. Discusses the Global Investment Performance Standard, a reporting standard published in April 1999 aimed at the management houses, and suggests the way property asset classes are defined needs to become more sophisticated.
