For instance, in September 2002, there was a total of 686 companies listed on it; by September 2005, this figure has risen to 1 311. By March 2006, the Stock Exchange accounted for 69% of Western Europe flotations, suggesting that AIM has attracted attention for companies seeking to raise capital.
