520 _aDiscusses an important exception to the general rule that almost every new private residential letting since 1997 is an assured shorthold tenancy which the tenant must vacate at the end of the tenancy. The exception is where the tenant is or becomes an agricultural worker. In these circumstances the tenant will obtain security and could pass on the tenancy to family members unless the landlord gives a notice before the commencement of the tenancy specifying that the tenancy will be an assured shorthold tenancy. Provides the statutory definition of an agricultural worker and comments on recent case law.
