520 _aSummarises the findings of a research project investigating the considerable reduction in young adult home-ownership rates in Britain since the 1990s. Reviews the recent trends in housing tenure among young adults. Looks at how these have been affected by credit market constraints, accumulated debt from higher education attendance, housing transaction costs and shifts in income distribution. The findings raise the question whether targeting assistance to make home-ownership affordable for the young is the correct policy to pursue. References.
