520 _aReports that there has a been a muted reaction from the construction industry to the UK Energy Review, principally because of a lack of firm commitment by government to the construction of a new generation of power stations. Concern has also been expressed about the government's intention that the private sector should fund the planning, building and maintenance of any future nuclear plants. Although planning laws may be amended to speed the building of new plants, it is still anticipated that there will be a minimum period of seven to10 years between planning and start of operation.
