All sectors apart from industrial saw a slump in December 2006 compared to November 2006, reflecting the festive period. Compared to 2005, 2006 was a quieter year for construction with new business falling back to £26.8bn from £29bn, although this was partly due to the infrastructure total returning to normal levels. Housing was up to £3.47bn of forward orders from £2.8bn in 2005 and public sector work rose by £3.7bn to £9.75bn. Both commercial work and industrial business fell in 2006. | ||
