520 _aExamines the development of the Thames Gateway. The National Audit Office (NAO) recently criticised the regeneration project. It argued that housebuilding targets will not be met; cooperation between government departments and agencies leaves much to be desired; and not enough sustainable, low-carbon housing is being created. In light of this criticism, this article considers the state of the various plans. Covers residential and commercial development, transport links and the geographical spread of these developments. The Olympic site is a major factor in the redevelopment. Although the NAO report provides a much needed warning, there is still reason to be optimistic.
