520 _aThe latest Experian Business Strategies' "Focus survey of construction activity" reveals that generally contractors coped well with adverse weather conditions in July and maintained their activity levels, with the overall activity index reaching 60. The orders index rose to a high 71, with tender enquiries and employment indices both rising six points to 62 and 59. Performance was strongest in the residential and non-residential sectors and weakest in civil engineering. Construction activity is forecast to continue to increase over the next quarter, with a gradual slowdown in the rate of growth.
