520 _aReports construction output is expected to have increased in 2007 for the second year in a row, as output in the first three quarters increased by 2%. Despite this overall increase, there were marked variations between sectors. In the first nine months of 2007, public housing output rose by 15%, commercial output rose by 13%, and private non-housing repair and maintenance rose by 10%. However, private housebuilding output was down to 1%, public non-residential output continued to slide, and growth in new work orders slowed. Predicts the US sub-prime market crisis will have a knock-on effect on the construction industry in 2008.
