520 _aConsiders the potential for the adoption of the UK NEC suite of contracts in New Zealand. Using a mix of in-depth and semi-structured interviews and an internet-based survey with senior construction industry personnel, investigated whether the drivers to change which resulted in the adoption of the NEC suite of contracts in the UK were present in New Zealand. Finds that, although some survey respondents considered the NEC beneficial, there are no significant drivers to facilitate its adoption. Concludes that there need to be improvements in project management and procurement practices before NEC could be adopted.
