Banks not exposed to the commercial mortgage backed securities crash will be offering smaller loans. Less than half of lenders are active and most are focusing on domestic markets. Further financial shocks are not expected but stability remains at least two or three years away. Figure shows appetite for lending in 2009 and a table covers destination of borrowed funds.
