520 _aThe Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act, 2009 (LDEDC Act) has redefined the concept of community involvement and public interest has gradually been redefined by statutes and circulars. It proposes to extend the "duty to involve" to additional agencies and bodies across England. The duty has applied mainly to local authorities so far, but the Act requires named bodies to take appropriate steps to involve people in decisions, policies and services that might affect them or be of interest to them.
