International variations in insolvency law have lead to forum shopping, the process of moving the jurisdiction of a company to a country deemed to be more favourable for administration, based on being able to prove the location of the company's centre of best interest. Ironically the European Union Insolvency Regulation 2002 which sought to make insolvency regimes across Europe more uniform has encouraged more forum shopping than any other piece of legislation.
