520 _a[2011] EWHC 2336 (Comm), 9 September 2011. Professionals should not act without the required expertise. Defendant valuers D had valued in 2001 an 145 000 sq ft factory outlet shopping centre in Chatham Historic Dockyards for claimant C who subsequently purchased the property for £62.85m. C claimed that D had over-valued the property by £18.05m and also sought recompense from D for all losses suffered as a consequence of D's negligent professional advice. "Held": Court found in favour of C in respect of the £18.05m over-valuation. D's staff were not experienced enough to carry out this valuation and were responsible for the over-valuation. D was however not liable for any other of C's losses.
