520 _aDemand for office space has remained robust in the US, Germany and mainland China markets but reduced occupier confidence and falling rents were evident in some major Asian financial centres and European markets most hit by the debt crisis. Recent leasing activity in Central and Eastern Europe, Germany and the Nordic region has strengthened. Recovery in the US commercial property sector has been maintained. Asian office markets have experienced contrasting fortunes whereas the Middle East markets show the effects of political turbulence and high levels of development activity. Africa's emerging property markets have continued to develop. Globally commercial property investment volumes rose moderately in 2011 compared to 2010.
