_v6 September 2012
520 _aGovernment announces major housing and planning package aimed at helping businesses, developers and first-time buyers, while reducing red tape. This will help deliver up to 70 000 new homes, 140 000 jobs and give a £40 billion guarantee for major infrastructure projects. The measures include removing restrictions on house builders to unlock 75 000 homes currently stalled due to sites being commercially unviable, building up to 15 000 affordable homes and bringing 5 000 empty homes back into use using new capital funding of £300m. Also for a time limited period it is proposed that planning red tape is reduced to help families and businesses make improvements to their properties.
