520 _aCostain and Cardiff University have begun a ground-breaking trial of self-healing concrete techniques without human intervention, which could save the UK billions of pounds in structural repair costs. Researchers are piloting three separate concrete-healing technologies. They want to develop a single system that can be embedded into concrete when is initially set, and then automatically sense when damage occurs.
