520			_aIn May 1986 a Law Commission working party was set up to study condominium schemes abroad and "to put forward a scheme to regulate relations between the owners of separate properties which lay in close proximity to each other and were interdependent". This resulted in the report published in July 1987, Commonhold: freehold flats and freehold ownership of other interdependent buildings ( CM 179 ). In this article the author examines the background to and the recommendations contained in the report and the consequences for conveyancers and solicitors if the recommendations were to become law.
