Under the plan, the commission wants to set up a single European rural development fund and raise expenditure to Ł13bn (£8.7bn) a year. This will be spent on three priority axes - improving competitiveness in agriculture, land management measures and diversification of the rural economy. The UK share of this fund will be 3.5% based on historic use only.
