Minister launches new national forest strategy - 2004 - National Forest Company Press Release 29 March 2004, (1) .

A 10-year strategy for the continuing extension of the England's National Forest has just been launched. More than five million trees have already been planted and the National Forest now covers over 500km² of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The current strategy will run till 2014 and aims to plant trees on up to 5 000 hectares of land so that wooded cover would increase by between 22% and 25%.
