ChD 28 February 1992. An originating summons whereby the plaintiffs sought declarations as to the right of the Building Societies Ombudsman to investigate complaints by nine borrowers in relation to valuations made by employees of a building society of properties to be charged to a society to secure further advances to an existing borrower. Held: the Building Society Ombudsman does have the power and jurisdiction to investigate such complai- nts, whether they were basic valuations, house buyers` reports or structural surveys.
