Describes the key recommendations of, and government's responses to, the Better Regulation Task Force's report on British farming, published in November 2000. On the basis of the report's findings government has ruled out an extensive deregulation of environmental controls on farming. However, there is the prospect of the introduction of an environmental standard for farms.
