There is a conflict in project management between the need for efficient and rapid mobilisation of the team and the need for time to reflect, prior to developing a project strategy. This article looks at how this can be overcome by using computer simulation packages such as AROUSAL and PROPOSAL to develop a strategy rapidly while the early physical stages of the project begin.
