New guidance on Scottish school design has been launched. The guidance advocates that schools should be civic buildings with public presence, made from sustainable, environmentally friendly materials. They should be fully accessible, naturally lit and ventilated, surrounded by attractive outdoor spaces and designed for community and out-of-hours use. They must be flexible enough to encompass pupil numbers change.
