US realtors were voted fifth most respected professionals in a recent America Online poll, are licensed, well-trained and 92% belong to the US National Association of Realtors, whose strict code of ethics they subscribe to. Practising realtors operate in a commercial but collegiate environment with the multi-listing system (MLS) at its centre. The MLS is a co-operative database offering property sales information across rival realtors, giving more detailed information on the properties and fuller market information than UK systems such as Hometrack.
